How It Works

How It Works

From Vision to Completion: Our Nine-Step Court Process

At Hawaii Court Resurfacing, we make the path from first conversation to final walkthrough clear and practical. Whether you are resurfacing an existing court, building a new sports facility, or upgrading a current setup, we evaluate the court, explain the options, document the expected work, and guide you through each stage.

Every project is different. Court condition, intended use, site access, weather, materials, and the effects of Hawaii’s UV exposure, humidity, salt air, rainfall, expansive soils, and root movement can influence the recommended approach.

STEP 1

Step 1: Contact Our Team

Call, text, email, or use our form to tell us what you are considering. We will follow up to learn about the court, the property, and what you want to accomplish.

  • Share the court type and location
  • Tell us whether you need construction, resurfacing, repair, striping, fencing, or equipment work
  • Describe the problem or upgrade you have in mind
  • Send photos when they are available

Once we receive your inquiry, our team will follow up to learn more about your project and understand exactly what you’re looking to accomplish.

Step 2: Project Discovery

We discuss the court type, intended use, current condition, property access, project goals, budget considerations, and preferred timing. We also ask about special concerns such as drainage, recurring cracks, low areas, root damage, salt-air exposure, or a need for multiple sports on one court.

This conversation helps us distinguish what is known from what needs to be evaluated. It also gives our team the context to discuss appropriate systems, materials, preparation, and project options rather than recommending the same approach for every court.

Step 3: Photos and Videos

Photos and videos help us understand the project before an evaluation. When possible, include wide views of the whole court, close-ups of cracks or damaged areas, low spots or drainage concerns, fences and equipment, access points, and any available measurements.

Clear information helps us prepare focused questions and identify what should be confirmed in person. It does not replace a site evaluation when the court or project conditions require one.

Step 4: Site Evaluation

When a site visit is appropriate, we assess the court and the conditions that can affect the work. We look at the existing surface and coatings, cracking, level changes, drainage and slope, dimensions, fencing, equipment, and access for people, materials, and equipment.

For Hawaii properties, the evaluation also helps us account for conditions such as strong UV exposure, humidity, rainfall, salt air, expansive volcanic or coral soils, and root movement where they affect the court. Some smaller projects may be reviewed from photos, while larger or more detailed projects benefit from an in-person evaluation.

Some smaller projects can be quoted directly from photos, but most larger or more detailed projects benefit from a site visit.

Step 5: Custom Quote

Your written proposal explains the recommended scope, preparation, repair or leveling approach, materials, color and striping choices, estimated sequence and timing, and any optional work such as fencing, windscreens, or equipment.

We explain the options so you can compare them against the court’s condition, intended use, goals, and budget. Any warranty language is project-specific and depends on the system, materials, installation conditions, and contract. The proposal is the place to confirm what is included and what is not.

Our goal is to give clients clear pricing and multiple options so they can customize the project to fit their vision and budget.

STEP 6

Step 6: Design and Colors

We finalize the visual and functional details that fit the project. This can include court colors, multi-sport layouts, line-striping layouts, logos or branding, fence and windscreen colors, and equipment finishes.

For a multipurpose court, we will discuss how the layout serves the intended sports and how the markings work together. The selected design, materials, and equipment are documented with the project scope so expectations are clear before work begins.

Whether you want a professional tournament-style court, a luxury residential court, or a custom multipurpose facility, we help bring your vision to life.

Step 7: Scheduling and Deposit

After the scope and agreement are confirmed, a 50% deposit secures scheduling and material ordering when specified in the project terms. We coordinate crew availability, materials, access, equipment, and the expected project sequence.

Timing depends on the project scope, material availability, weather, site readiness, access, and other active commitments. Your written project expectations will identify the anticipated timing and any conditions that may affect the schedule.

Step 8: Construction and Court Work

Our crew carries out the agreed work, which may include preparation, crack repair and leveling, concrete or asphalt work, resurfacing, acrylic surfacing, color coating, line striping, fencing, windscreens, equipment, or other listed improvements.

Materials and methods are selected for the project and its conditions, including the realities of Hawaii’s UV exposure, humidity, salt air, and rainfall. Our team communicates about weather, scheduling, site conditions, and any scope questions that arise. The work follows the written project expectations rather than an assumed one-size-fits-all process.

We keep clients updated throughout the process and communicate any changes related to weather, scheduling, or project conditions.

Step 9: Final Walkthrough

We review the completed work with you, identify any agreed touch-ups, and confirm that the listed scope has been addressed. We provide the project-specific warranty information and any relevant care or maintenance guidance.

The remaining 50% payment is due after completion and customer approval when specified in the project terms. The final walkthrough gives you a clear opportunity to ask questions and understand the finished court before the project is closed.
